Abstract
Novel compounds are disclosed having a physiological cooling action on the skin. The compounds are N-substituted p-menthane 3-carboxyamides.

N-hydroxyalkyl substituted-p-menthane-3-carboxamides of the formula ##STR3## wherein R' is hydrogen, C.sub.1 -C.sub.9 alkyl or C.sub.1 -C.sub.9 hydroxyalkyl and
- R" is C.sub.1 -C.sub.9 hydroxyalkyl.
N-(1,1-dimethyl-2-hydroxyethyl)-p-menthane-3-carboxamide.
N-(3-hydroxypropyl)-p-menthane-3-carboxamide.
