Abstract
A flexible electromagnetic shield is provided. The shield comprises interlaced filaments of at least one glassy metal alloy. The glassy alloy has a maximum permeability of at least about 25,000 and a coercivity of less than about 0.08 Oe.
Claims17
A flexible electromagnetic shield which comprises interlaced filaments, said filaments comprising at least one metal alloy that is primarily glassy, said at least one metal alloy consisting essentially of about 75 to 87 atom percent of at least one metal selected from the group consisting of iron and cobalt, up to about three-fourths of which may be replaced by nickel, and the balance at least one metalloid selected from the group consisting of boron, carbon and phosphorus, up to about one-third of which may be replaced by at least one element selected from the group consisting of silicon and aluminum, plus incidental impurities, and having a maximum permeability of at least about 25,000 and a coercivity of less than about 0.08 Oe.
