Abstract
1-Aminoethyl, 1-aminopropyl and 1-aminobutyl derivatives of 7,7-dimethylnorbornane are described. The amino groups are optionally substituted, for example by alkyl groups, or may be saturated heterocyclic amino groups. The alkylene group at the 1-position can also be substituted, and the 2-position can be substituted by chlorine. The compounds have CNS activity.

7,7-Dimethyl-[2.2.1]-bicycloheptane of the formula:
- ##STR30## wherein A is -(CH.sub.2).sub.n NR.sup.1 R.sup.2 wherein n is 2, 3 or 4;
- R.sup.1 and R.sup.2, which may be the same or different, are hydrogren atoms or C.sub.1-6 alkyl or C.sub.2-6 alkenyl groups or, together with the intervening nitrogen atom, represent a 4-7 membered saturated heterocylic ring which is unsubstituted or substituted by a C.sub.1-6 alkyl group;
- and
- R.sup.3 is a chlorine atom in the endo configuration;
- which compounds may optionally be substituted by a C.sub.1-4 alkyl group at any position on the alkylene chain of A, or by an oxo or hydroxy group at the .beta.-position of the alkylene chain of A relative to the nitrogen atom;
- or the physiologically acceptable acid addition salts thereof.
