Abstract
Decaborane (14) is prepared by the chemical oxidation of the tetradecahydroundecaborate (-1) ion with an oxidant having an electrode potential (E.degree.) of at least +0.6 volts.

Process for preparing decaborane (14) which comprises contacting and oxidizing tetradecahydroundecaborate (-1) ions at a temperature between -10.degree. and 50.degree. C with an oxidizing agent having an electrode potential (E.degree.) of at least +0.6 volts.
