Abstract

Compounds of the formula ##STR1## wherein X is a hydrogen atom, a halogen atom, a trihalomethyl group, an alkyl group, or a cyano group, Y is a hydrogen atom, a halogen atom, or a trihalomethyl group, and Z is a substituted alkoxy group, And compositions containing these compounds exhibit herbicidal activity.

A compound of the formula ##STR8## wherein X is a hydrogen atom, a halogen atom, a trifluoromethyl group, or a (C.sub.1 -C.sub.4) alkyl group,

T is a hydrogen atom, a halogen atom, or a trifluoromethyl group, and
Z is a (C.sub.1 -C.sub.4) alkoxy group having one or more hydrogen atoms replaced by a carboxy group, or an agronomically-acceptable salt thereof, or a carb(C.sub.1 -C.sub.4)alkoxy group.
