Triphendioxazine triazinyl dyes having phosphonic acid groups

A dyestuff having the formula:

• ##STR31## wherein X is NH
• R.sub.4 is selected from the group consisting of H, C.sub.1-4 alkyl and C.sub.1-4 alkyl substituted by one of OH, SO.sub.3 H or COOH;
• Y is selected from the group consisting of phenylene substituted by 0-2 SO.sub.3 H, or --CH.sub.2 CH.sub.2 --, or --CH.sub.2 --CH(OH)--CH.sub.2 --, or --CH.sub.2 --CH.sub.2 --CH(OSO.sub.3 H)CH.sub.2 --, or ##STR32## or X and Y together are a direct link;
• or the group --X--Y--NR.sub.4 -- is ##STR33## Z and Z' are each selected from the group consisting of H and ##STR34## wherein R.sub.2 is OH;
• Cl;
• Br;
• NH.sub.2 ;
• C.sub.1-4 alkylamino;
• di(C.sub.1-4 alkyl)amino;
• C.sub.1-4 alkyl amino or di(C.sub.1-4 alkyl) amino radicals of which one or both of the alkyl groups is substituted by OH, SO.sub.3 H, OSO.sub.3 H or COOH;
• N-morpholino;
• benzylamino;
• sulphobenzylamino;
• phenoxy;
• sulphophenoxy;
• mono-, di- or tri-sulphonaphthylamino;
• dicarboxy anilino;
• or a radical of the formula:
• ##STR35## wherein q = 0, 1 or 2;
• R.sub.5 is H, methyl, sulphomethyl, ethyl or hydroxyethyl;
• and R.sub.6 is H, CH.sub.3, OCH.sub.3, COOH, Cl, NH.sub.2 or ##STR36## where r = 0 or 1 or R.sub.2 is a quaternary ammonium group selected from the group consisting of N.sup.+ (CH.sub.3).sub.3 hal.sup.-, N.sup.+ (CH.sub.3).sub.2 C.sub.2 H.sub.5 hal.sup.- and ##STR37## where hal is Cl or Br, .omega. = 0 or 1 and z = 0 or 1;
• R.sub.1 is selected from the group consisting of H, C.sub.1-4 alkyl and C.sub.1-4 alkyl substituted by one of OH, SO.sub.3 H, or COOH, and
• R is selected from the group consisting of C.sub.1-6 alkylene, C.sub.1-6 hydroxyalkylene, phenylene having 0-3 substituents each selected from the group consisting of SO.sub.3 H, C.sub.1-4 alkyl, alkoxy and chloro;
• naphthylene, sulphonaphthylene, benzylidene and a group of the formula:
• ##STR38## where x = 0 or 1 providing that at least one of Z and Z.sup.1 is not H.
