Abstract
This disclosure describes certain 11-(2-hydroxyethylthio)-9-keto-prostenoic acid E series derivatives, and their intermediates, useful as bronchodilators and inflammatory medeator release inhibitors.
Claims23
An optically active compound of the formula:
- ##STR42## wherein Z is ##STR43## R.sub.1 is selected from the group consisting of hydroxy and C.sub.1 -C.sub.6 alkoxy;
- and R is a moiety selected from the group consisting of ##STR44## wherein R.sub.4 is selected from the group consisting of hydrogen and methyl, R.sub.5 is selected from the group consisting of C.sub.4 -C.sub.7 alkyl and 2-cis(C.sub.4 -C.sub.6)alkenyl, R.sub.6 is selected from the group consisting of C.sub.3 -C.sub.5 alkyl, R.sub.8 is selected from the group consisting of C.sub.1 -C.sub.2 alkyl, and R.sub.11 is selected from the group consisting of C.sub.3 -C.sub.7 alkyl;
- with the proviso that when R.sub.5 is 2-cis(C.sub.4 -C.sub.6)-alkenyl, then R.sub.4 must be hydrogen and Z must be ##STR45## the racemic mixture thereof;
- the mirror image thereof;
- and when R.sub.1 is hydroxy, the pharmaceutically acceptable salts thereof.
