Abstract
In a method of tempering glass product by a heat treatment of quenching the glass heated at higher than a strain point and lower than a softening point, by dipping it into a liquid coolant, the tempering operation is carried out under applying ultrasonic vibration to the liquid coolant or the glass product.

In a method of tempering a glass product by a heat treatment of quenching a glass product heated at higher than a strain point and lower than a softening point by dipping it into a liquid coolant, an improvement which comprises applying ultrasonic vibration to said liquid coolant or said glass product in the quenching operation.
