Abstract
A reaction injection molding (RIM) process for making polyurethanes is disclosed where in addition to the conventional ingredients such as polyols, isocyanates, and catalysts there is included a carboxy functional siloxane. The incorporation of the carboxy functional siloxane aids in the release of the molded part and shortening the molding cycle time.
Claims10
In a process of reaction injection molding of polyurethanes which include the mixing of one or more of each of polyols, polyisocyanates and catalysts, the reaction of the foregoing ingredients, and the molding and curing of the foregoing mixture into the desired configuration, the improvement comprising mixing with the other ingredients a carboxy functional siloxane.
