Claims3
A method for free-radical polymerization of ethylenically-unsaturated monomers containing at least 50% by weight of an aromatic vinyl group, an allyl compound or ethylene comprising employing as initiator a compound corresponding to the formula:
- ##STR2## wherein Ar is an aryl group and X is hydrogen or chlorine and provided that at least 1 but not more than 5 X groups are chlorine.
A method for the free-radical polymerization of an ethylenically unsaturated prepolymer containing at least 50% by weight of an aromatic vinyl group, an allyl compound of ethylene, comprising incorporating in said prepolymer a compound corresponding to the formula:
- ##STR3## wherein Ar is an aryl group and X is hydrogen or chlorine and provided that at least 1 but not more than 5X groups are chlorine and subsequently heating the prepolymer to a temperature between 150.degree. and 250.degree. C.
