3-Amino-2-hydrazinopyridine hydrochloride is useful in the alleviation of hypertension.

A method for alleviating hypertension which comprises administering to a hypertensive host an antihypertensive amount of 3-amino-2-hydrazinopyridine hydrochloride in acceptable pharmaceutical dosage form.
