Abstract
Novel peresters having the formula ##STR1## wherein R is hydrogen or an alkyl group or an alkoxy group having 1-6 C atoms and a method for making them are provided. The novel peresters may be used to advantage in the polymerization or copolymerization of ethylenically unsaturated compounds.

A process for polymerizing an ethylenically unsaturated compound or the copolymerization of at least two ethylenically unsaturated compounds in the presence of an initiating amount of a perester having the formula ##STR5## where R represents hydrogen or an alkyl group or an alkoxy group having 1-6 C-atoms.
