Abstract
A dialysis membrane comprising a plurality of polyvinyl alcohol hollow fibers of substantially homogeneous structure having a degree of orientation (.pi.) in the range of 60% .ltoreq. .pi. .ltoreq. 98% and a degree of swelling (.zeta.) in the range of 1.05 .ltoreq. .pi. .ltoreq. 1.80 times.
Claims2
A polyvinyl alcohol hollow fiber of substantially homogeneous structure having a degree of orientation (.pi.) in the range of 60% .ltoreq. .pi. .ltoreq. 98% and a degree of swelling (.zeta.) in the range of 1.05 .ltoreq. .zeta. .ltoreq. 1.80 times, said fiber produced by extruding a polyvinyl alcohol spinning dope from an annular nozzle, said nozzle having a clearance between orifice diameter and its outer diameter of at least 0.3 mm, into a coagulation bath, and drawing the resultant hollow fiber in the coagulation bath.
