A green-yellow to orange fluorescent dye of the formula ##STR15## where Y = O or S
- Z = h or CH.sub.3
- n = 0 or 1 and
- M = h, li, Na, K, NH.sub.4 or the protonated form of a tertiary lower alkylamine or alkanolamine.
