In a method of fabricating a filament laminate for use in a composite article, the steps of:
- bonding a plurality of collimated filaments between two sheets of a first material;
- removing a portion of at least one sheet from the laminate;
- replacing said removed portion with a second material characterized by an impact strength different from that of said removed portion;
- and
- bonding said second material to said first material.
In a method of fabricating a filament laminate for use in a composite article, the steps of:
- bonding a plurality of collimated filaments between two sheets of materials;
- removing a portion of at least one sheet from the laminate;
- replacing said removed portion with the same material as comprises the other sheet;
- and
- bonding said replacing material to the remaining material.
