Abstract
A method and apparatus for testing and evaluating the runout and recoil control systems for a gun in which a body having a mass representative of the mass of the moving parts of the gun is accelerated under the control of the runout system under test and then decelerated under the control of the recoil control system under test. During both acceleration and deceleration various conditions such as the position and velocity of the body are measured and recorded.
Claims26
The method of testing the runout and recoil control systems for a gun comprising the steps of accelerating a body having a mass representative of the mass of the moving parts of the gun to a predetermined velocity, decelerating the body under control of the recoil control system under test and measuring and recording the position of the body as a function of time.
Apparatus for testing the runout and recoil control systems for a gun comprising a body having a mass representative of the mass of the moving parts of the gun, means for accelerating said body to a predetermined velocity, means for decelerating said body under control of the recoil control system under test, and means for measuring and recording the position of said body as a function of time.
