Abstract
Production of a recording material having the chemical composition Na.sub.6 Al.sub.6 Si.sub.6 O.sub.24 .multidot.2(1-x)NaX.multidot.xNa.sub.2 SO.sub.4 (X is F, Cl, Br or I and 0.1 .ltoreq. .times. .ltoreq. 0.8) by only the simple sintering method can be attained by substituting a part of halogen site of said composition by other ions.

A cathode ray device using a cathodochromic recording material having the chemical composition M.sub.6 Al.sub.6 Si.sub.6 O.sub.24 .multidot.2(1-y)MX.multidot.yM.sub.2 Z wherein X is a member selected from the group consisting of F, Cl, Br and I;
- wherein M is Na or a mixture of Na and at least one element selected from the group consisting of Li and K;
- wherein Z is selected from the group consisting of WO.sub.4 and mixtures of SO.sub.4 and WO.sub.4 and 0.1 .ltoreq. y .ltoreq. 0.8.
