Abstract
The device comprises a photocathode for converting light phenomena to photoelectrons, means for focusing the photoelectrons emitted by the photocathode in the form of a large number of separate beams each corresponding to the photoelectrons emitted by a well-localized fraction of the photocathode, and means for detecting and localizing the beams of photoelectrons in a surface which is secant therewith.
Claims15
A device for localizing radiations comprising:
- a photocathode means for converting said radiations to emitted photoelectrons;
- nonelectron multiplying means for focusing said emitted photoelectrons in the form of a number of separate beams, each of said beams corresponding to photoelectrons emitted by a well-localized fraction of said photocathode;
- means for accelerating photoelectrons of said beams;
- and
- means for detecting and localizing said beams of photoelectrons, said means including a plurality of electron-detecting amplifying semiconductor components disposed in a generally common plane, each of said semiconductor components being located in a line of extension of one of the longitudinal axes of said beams, said plane being generally parallel to said photocathode.
