Abstract
Organo-lithium compounds of the formula: ##STR1## wherein R is an alkyl group of up to 5 carbon atoms, R' is either hydrogen or an alkyl group of up to 5 carbon atoms and n is an integer from 2 to 10. These bifunctional organo-lithium compounds are prepared without the use of any polar or complexing agent and are useful as polymerization initiators for the production of block copolymers.

Organo-lithium compounds of the formula:
- ##STR5## wherein n is an integer from 2 to 10, R' is either hydrogen or an alkyl group having up to 5 carbon atoms, and R is an alkyl group having up to 5 carbons atoms, the optimal ultraviolet absorption being characterized by a wave-length of 335 nm and by a molar extinction coefficient of 1.5.times.10.sup.4 mole .sup.-1 /l/cm.sup.-1.
