Abstract
Process for the modification, e.g. cross-linking, of polymers containing C.dbd.C or C.tbd.C unsaturation by reacting them with nitrile sulphides or precursors therefor. A preferred system entails mixing the polymer with a 5-R-substituted-1,3,4-oxathiazol-2-one and heating the mixture to a temperature at which the nitrile sulphide is generated.
Claims6
A process for the modification of a polymeric material containing at least one C.dbd.C unsaturated group in its molecule, in which the said polymeric material is reacted with a nitrile sulphide of formula
- (CNS).sub.2 or R--(CNS).sub.n
- where R represents an organic radical which is inert to the nitrile sulphide group and n is an integer .gtoreq.1.
