Abstract
Gasoline compositions containing methylcyclopentadienylmanganesetricarbonyl (hereinafter MCMT) are stabilized against oxidation by the addition of 2-ethylhexanoic acid.
Claims4
A gasoline composition suitable for use as a fuel for internal combustion engines comprising a major proportion of gasoline, methylcyclopentadienylmanganesetricarbonyl in a proportion at least sufficient to increase the octane rating of the gasoline, and 2-ethylhexanoic acid in a proportion at least sufficient to inhibit oxidation of said methylcyclopentadienylmanganesetricarbonyl.
