Abstract

Integral with a high speed, computer control banking machine is a depository system to provide a fully automatic teller station. At the customer interface there is an entry gate controlled to an open position by a solenoid actuated in accordance with computer generated signals. A deposit envelope inserted through the entry gate is detected by a light sensor as it moves along a pinch roller transport extending to a printing station. An envelope transported to the printing station is held in a fixed position while a numeric print machine is actuated to imprint on the envelope identifying data. When the print cycle is completed, a computer generated signal energizes a solenoid to open a security door to a storage bin and reactuates the pinch roller transport to deliver the envelope into the storage bin. A sensor is activated when an envelope enters the storage bin and the security door is closed and locked as the trailing edge of the envelope passes the sensor.

Dependent claims

An automatic document depository responsive to externally generated signals, comprising in combination:

a storage bin;
an entry gate to said depository, said entry gate including actuating means responsive to externally generated signals to actuate said gate from a closed and locked position to an open position for receiving a deposited document;
a pinch and pressure roller transport receiving a deposited document at said entry gate for movement of the document to a print station displaced therefrom and for movement from the print station to said storage bin positioned at one end of said transport;
sensor means responsive to a document moving on said pinch and pressure roller transport to generate a signal when the document has been positioned at the print station to actuate the entry gate from an open position to a closed and locked position,
means for printing during a print cycle identifying data on the document at the print station in response to the generated signal;
a security door at the one end of said transport for said storage bin that receives a document from the print station;
means responsive to a signal generated at the end of the print cycle to unlock and open said security door;
and
means for sensing the deposit of a document in the storage bin to generate a signal to close and lock said security door.
