Abstract
New semisynthetic cephalosporins are described whose structures are characterized by having an .alpha.-oxyimino group in the 7-acetamido moiety and a sulfosubstituted tetrazolylthiomethyl group at position 3. The compounds are active antibacterial agents especially against Gram negative organisms.

A compound of the formula:
- ##STR4## in which:
- R is thienyl, furyl or phenyl;
- R.sub.1 is hydrogen, lower alkyl, benzyl, phenethyl, thienylmethyl or furylmethyl;
- n is selected from 0-9;
- R.sub.2 is hydrogen or methyl;
- X is sulfo, sulfamyl, sulfamino or methylsulfonamido;
- and
- Y is hydrogen or methoxy, together with its alkali metal salts.
