Abstract
A one step process for the preparation of phosphate esters of acidic hydroxy-containing compounds, e.g., phenols, by reacting said compounds with dimethyl disulfide and a trialkyl phosphite.
Claims8
A process for selective preparation of 0,0-dialkyl phosphates of phenols having the following general formula:
- ##STR8## wherein R' is alkylmercapto and n is 1-5;
- R.sub.1 is alkyl of 1-12 carbon atoms;
- and R.sub.2 is alkyl of 1-12 carbon atoms, comprising reacting, from about room temperature to the boiling point of the reactants, a phenolic compound with dimethyl disulfide and a trialkyl phosphite each alkyl grup thereof having from 1-12 carbon atoms, said phenolic compound being a phenol containing a ring substituent that is mercapto.
