Abstract
Ketoalkanesulfenylcarbamoyl and ketoalkanethiosulfenylcarbamoyl halides are useful intermediates in the preparation of pesticidally active carbamates.

A compound of the formula:
- ##STR26## wherein:
- R.sub.1 is alkyl;
- R.sub.2 is alkyl or chlorine;
- R.sub.3 is hydrogen, alkyl, phenyl, alkoxycarbonyl, alkanoyl or phenoxycarbonyl;
- R.sub.4 is hydrogen, alkyl, phenoxy, alkoxy or phenyl or R.sub.3 and R.sub.4 together may form as alkylene chain completing a five or six membered alicyclic ketone or dione;
- n is 1 or 2;
- X is chlorine or fluorine;
- wherein R.sub.1, R.sub.2, R.sub.3 and R.sub.4 substituents individually may not include more than 6 aliphatic carbons.

- R.sub.3 is hydrogen, alkyl, phenyl or alkanoyl;
