Abstract
A process for the preparation of diaminomaleonitrile in high purity comprising polymerizing hydrogen cyanide in the presence of an alkyl aluminum compound having the general formula ##STR1## wherein R.sub.1 is alkyl containing 1 to 10 carbon atoms, and R.sub.2 and R.sub.3 are hydrogen, halogen having 17 to 53 of atomic number or alkyl containing 1 to 10 carbon atoms.

A process for the preparation of diaminoaleonitrile comprising polymerizing hydrogen cyanide in the presence of an alkyl aluminum compound having the general formula ##STR4## wherein R.sub.1 is alkyl containing 1 to 10 carbon atoms, and R.sub.2 and R.sub.3 are hydrogen, halogen having 17 to 53 of atomic number or alkyl containing 1 to 10 carbon atoms, wherein the alkyl aluminum compound is used in amounts of the molar ratio to hydrogen cyanide of from 0.001 to 1, and wherein the reaction is carried out at a temperature of from about -20.degree. Cto about +150.degree. C.
