Abstract
Disclosed are symmetrical alkynyl ureas, such as N,N'-bis-(3-methyl-1-butyn-3-yl)urea, their manufacture by the reaction of a chloroformate such as beta-fluoroethyl chloroformate with alkynes such as 3-amino-3-methyl-1-butyne, and their use to control certain weeds, fungi, and bacteria.
Claims7
A method of controlling a weed of the genus Cyperus which comprises contacting the weed with a composition in an amount effective to control the weed, the composition having the general formula:
- ##STR4## wherein:
- R is an alkynyl of from three to five carbon atoms.
A method of controlling a weed of the genus Cyperus which comprises contacting the weed with N,N'-bis-(3-methyl-1-butyn-3-yl)urea in an amount effective to control the weed.
