Abstract
Compounds of the structure ##STR1## where X is Cl or Br, R is a branched chain alkyl or alkenylradical containing about 8 to 20 carbon atoms and R.sub.1, R.sub.2 and R.sub.3 are hydrogen or alkyl groups of 1 to 4 carbon atoms. The new compounds find use in extraction of metals.
Claims14
A compound of the formula:
- ##STR14## wherein X is Cl or Br, R is a branched chain alkenyl radical of about 8 to 20 carbon atoms obtained by reaction of a starting 8-hydroxyquinoline compound with a 1-chloro-1-alkene and R.sub.1, R.sub.2 and R.sub.3 are hydrogen or alkyl groups of 1 to 4 carbon atoms with the proviso that at least two of R.sub.1, R.sub.2 and R.sub.3 are hydrogen.
A compound of the formula:
- ##STR15## where X is Cl or Br, R is a branched chain alkyl radical of about 8 to 20 carbon atoms obtained by reaction of a starting 8-hydroxyquinoline compound with a 1-chloro-2-alkene followed by hydrogenation of the resulting alkenyl group and R.sub.1, R.sub.2 and R.sub.3 are hydrogen or alkyl groups of 1 to 4 carbon atoms with the proviso that at least two of R.sub.1, R.sub.2 and R.sub.3 are hydrogen.
The compound 5-chloro-7-dodecenyl-8-hydroxyquinoline having the structure:
- ##STR16##
The compound 5-chloro-7-dodecyl-8-hydroxyquinoline having the structure:
- ##STR17##
The compound 5-bromo-7-dodecyl-8-hydroxyquinoline having the structure:
- ##STR18##
