Abstract
Water-soluble oxidation-reduction polymers containing therein recurring units of the formula (I): ##STR1## or recurring units of formula (II): ##STR2## wherein X represents a hydrogen atom, a halogen atom, an alkyl group, an allyl group or an aryl group; R.sub.1 represents a hydrogen atom or an alkyl group; R.sub.2 represents a hydrogen atom, an alkyl group or an aryl group; R.sub.3 represents a divalent group; and M represents a cation. These polymers have excellent oxidation-reduction properties.
Claims10
A water soluble homopolymer or copolymer containing in its main chain recurring units of the formula (I):
- ##STR35## or the formula (II):
- ##STR36## wherein X represents a hydrogen atom, a halogen atom, an alkyl group, an allyl group or an aryl group;
- R.sub.1 represents a hydrogen atom or an alkyl group;
- R.sub.2 represents a hydrogen atom, an alkyl group or an aryl group;
- R.sub.3 represents a divalent group selected from the group consisting of a straight chain alkylene group having 1 to 8 carbon atoms;
- a branched chain alkylene group having 1 to 8 carbon atoms;
- an arylene group and a group having the formula:
- ##STR37## wherein n is an integer of 1 to 4;
- and M is selected from the group consisting of a hydrogen atom, an alkali metal atom and a quaternary ammonium group.
