Claims47
A defoamer for controlling the foam in high strength acid media comprising a majority of a sulfonated fatty acid and a minority of a nonionic additive having the formula R--O(R'--O).sub.n R" [R-O(R' ).sub.n R"] wherein R' is hydrocarbyl [alkylene oxide], R and R" is hydrocarbonyl or hydroxyhydrocarbyl, and n is an integer of from 1 to about 200.
A process for preparing a defoamer for controlling the foam in high strength acid media comprising mixing a majority of a sulfonated fatty acid and a minority of a nonionic additive having the formula R--O(R'--O).sub.n R" [R-O(R' ).sub.n R"] wherein R' is hydrocarbyl [alkylene oxide], R and R" is hydrocarbyl or hydroxyhydrocarbyl, and n is an integer of from 1 to about 200.
