Abstract
An adaptor for a conventional type carburetor having a main support plate provided with central apertures therein, a slotted throttle plate movable longitudinally in the apertures, support and retaining plates on either side of said movable throttle plate slidable therebetween, and pivotable lever means attachable to the conventional throttle linkage for actuation of the slotted throttle plate to increase or decrease the flow of partially atomized gasoline and air through the slotted apertures of the aforementioned plates and to further break down and additionally atomize the gasoline particles due to the action of the cutting edges. This adaptor may be used with conventional carburetors and/or used as the primary throttle control for new carburetion systems.
Claims11
In a carburetor having a liquid gasoline containing chamber, an air passageway, an atomizing venturi in said air passageway and connected to the gasoline chamber for the induction of gasoline thereinto by the passage of inducted air through the passageway, the improvement comprising;
- a throttle structure for association with the air passageway to control the gasoline particles and air passing into the manifold of the internal combustion engine with which the carburetor is used, actuating linkage between the conventional carburetor actuating mechanism and said throttle structure, and said throttle structure including means to effect additional atomization of the gasoline and further breaking up of the suspended gasoline particles as already atomized by the carburetor venturi, the throttle structure is mounted in place of the conventional throttle disk structure, and the throttle structure includes a flat main support plate having at least three apertures therein, a single flat slidably movable throttle plate with apertures therethrough, and means on the slidably movable throttle plate for actuation by the connection to the caburetor actuating mechanism, the means on the slidably movable throttle plate for actuation thereof includes a pivotal lever appropriately mounted on the first said plate by a replaceable pivot block mounted in one of said three apertures, said pivotal lever having a slot therein, and a pin connection between the slot and the throttle plate.
An adaptor for a conventional type internal combustion engine caburetor comprising:
- means for further breaking up and additionally atomizing suspended gasoline particles after atomization by a carburetor including;
- a flat main support frame having apertures and channels through the center thereof, a flat slidable throttle plate with central apertures therein movable longitudinally within said apertures and channels of the main support frame, actuating means associated with the main support frame and the flat slidable throttle plate for actuating same, and at least one flat cover plate attached to one side of the flat main support frame and having an aperture therein which aligns with the apertures in the slidable throttle plate for creating a combination of apertures which may be varied in size to control fluid flow therethrough, and the means associated with the main support frame for actuating the slidable throttle plate includes a lever arm pivotally mounted on the main support frame, a pivotable-slidable connection between a point on said arm and the slidable throttle plate, and another flat cover plate similar to the first one with correspondingly aligned apertures therein mounted on the other side of the flat main support frame from the first flat cover plate for retaining the flat throttle plate slidably therebetween.
