Abstract
A compound of the general formula I ##STR1## wherein R.sup.1 is halogen, R.sup.4 is a highly branched alkyl group, R.sup.2 and R.sup.3 which may be the same or different are hydrogen or halogen atoms or lower alkyl groups.

A compound of the formula ##STR12## wherein R.sup.1 is halogen, R.sup.4 is an alkyl wherein the carbon atom directly attached to the aromatic ring is substituted with three alkyl groups, R.sup.2 and R.sup.3 which may be the same or different are hydrogen, halogen or lower alkyl, or a salt of such compound with non-toxic base.
The compound 3-tert-butyl-4-hydroxy-5-iodobenzylidenemalononitrile.
The compound 3-bromo-5-tert-butyl-4-hydroxybenzylidenemalononitrile.
The compound 3-tert-butyl-5-chloro-4-hydroxybenzylidenemalononitrile.
The compound 6-methyl-3-tert-butyl-4-hydroxy-5-iodobenzylidenemalononitrile.
The compound 2-methyl-3-bromo-5-tert-butyl-4-hydroxybenzylidenemalononitrile.
The compound 5-tert-butyl-2,3-dichloro-4-hydroxybenzylidenemalononitrile.
