Abstract
This disclosure relates to the preparation of garamine, its use as an antibacterial, and its use as an intermediate in the novel processes for preparing novel pseudotrisaccharides containing a garamine moiety, and to the use of the novel pseudotrisaccharides as antimicrobial, anthelmintic, antiprotozoal and antiviral agents.
Claims18
A compound represented by the structural formula:
- ##STR19## wherein R.sub.1 is an amino protective group or hydrogen and R.sub.2 is an hydroxy protective group or hydrogen.
Compound of the general formula:
- ##STR20## and their pharmaceutically acceptable acid addition salts and Schiffs-base oxazolidine derivatives, wherein R.sub.2 is hydrogen or hydroxy, R.sub.3 and R.sub.5 are each hydroxy, or NHR.sub.4, R.sub.4 is hydrogen or lower alkyl with the provisos (a) that when R.sub.2 is hydroxy, R.sub.4 is H or CH.sub.3 and R.sub.3 is OH or NH.sub.2, then R.sub.5 is other than NH.sub.2 (b) that when both R.sub.2 and R.sub.5 are hydroxy, and R.sub.4 is H or CH.sub.3 then R.sub.3 is other than NH.sub.2.
