Abstract

Novel 1-aryl-2-(1-imidazolyl)alkyl ethers and thioethers having anti-fungal properties are disclosed.

Dependent claims

A 1-aryl-2-(1-imidazolyl)alkyl ether or thioether having the formula:

##STR12## and the pharmaceutically acceptable acid addition salts thereof wherein R.sup.1, R.sup.2, R.sup.3 and R.sup.4 are each hydrogen or alkyl of from 1 to 6 carbon atoms;
Ar is phenyl, substituted phenyl, said substituents being halogen, alkyl of from 1 to 6 carbon atoms or alkoxy of from 1 to 6 carbon atoms, thienyl or halothienyl;
Z is oxygen or sulfur;
n is 1 or 2;
and Y is thienyl or substituted thienyl group, said substituents being halogen, alkyl of from 1 to 6 carbon atoms or alkoxy of from 1 to 6 carbon atoms.
