Abstract
There are prepared compounds of the formula ##STR1## where R and R.sup.1 are saturated and preferably linear alkyl groups in which the sum of carbon atoms in the two alkyl groups is 4 to 30, One of R and R.sup.1 can also be hydrogen, R.sup.2 is hydrogen or if R.sup.3 is hydrogen, then R.sup.2 is the group ##STR2## where n is 1 to 10, R.sup.3 is hydrogen or, if R.sup.2 is hydrogen, then R.sup.3 is the group ##STR3## and R.sup.4 is hydrogen or methyl. The compounds are useful as antistatic agents for thermoplastic resins.
Claims18
A composition comprising a compound of the formula ##STR15## where one of R and R.sup.1 is alkyl and the other R and R.sup.1 is hydrogen or alkyl and the sum of carbon atoms in R and R.sup.1 is 4 to 30,
- R.sup.2 is hydrogen or, if R.sup.3 is hydrogen then R.sup.2 is the group ##STR16## where n is 1 to 10, R.sup.3 is hydrogen or, if R.sup.2 is hydrogen than R.sup.3 is the group ##STR17## and R.sup.4 is hydrogen or methyl and a thermoplastic synthetic resin which is a polyolefin, polyvinyl chloride, polystyrene, polyvinyl acetate, polymethyl methacrylate, styrene-acrylonitrile copolymer or ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer, said compound being present in an amount sufficient to impart antistatic properties to said resin.
