Abstract
Disclosed herein are cephalosporanic acid and novel derivatives thereof which are substituted in the 7-position, processes for preparing such compounds and the utility thereof. The compounds of the invention have been found to be useful as antibacterial agents.
Claims7
A compound of the formula:
- ##STR7## wherein R.sup.3 is selected from the group consisting of phenylthio and substituted phenylthio wherein said substituent is selected from the group consisting of halogen, hydroxy, amino, nitro, and lower alkyl;
- R.sup.4 is selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, lower alkyl, trichloroethyl, benzyl, methoxybenzyl, and benzhydryl;
- and Y is selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, acetoxy, pyridinium, and hydroxy;
- and pharmaceutically acceptable salts thereof.
