Abstract
Novel ethynylindenyl compounds and derivatives are described. Their use in the treatment of inflammation is also disclosed.
Claims39
A compound of the formula ##STR3## in which R.sub.1 is hydrogen or lower alkyl;
- R is cyano or lower alkyl sulfinyl;
- and
- R.sub.2 is halo, nitro, lower alkyl, amino, or mono- or di-lower alkylamino.
A compound of the formula ##STR4## in which R.sub.1 is hydrogen or lower alkyl;
- R is halo, nitro, or halo lower alkyl;
- and
- R.sub.2 is halo, nitro, lower alkyl, amino, or mono- or di-lower alkylamino.
A compound of the formula ##STR5## in which R.sub.1 is hydrogen or lower alkyl;
- R is cyano or lower alkyl sulfinyl;
- and
- R.sub.2 is lower alkoxy.
A method for the relief of inflammation in a patient which comprises the administration thereto of a therapeutically effective amount between 0.5 mg. to 100 mg. per kg. of body weight per day of a compound of the formula ##STR6## in which R.sub.1 is hydrogen or lower alkyl;
- R is cyano or lower alkyl sulfinyl;
- and
- R.sub.2 is halo, nitro, lower alkyl, amino, or mono- or di-lower alkylamino.
A method for the relief of inflammation in a patient which comprises the administration thereto of a therapeutically effective amount between 0.5 mg. to 100 mg. per kg. of body weight per day of a compound of the formula ##STR7## in which R.sub.1 is hydrogen or lower alkyl;
- R is halo, nitro, or halo lower alkyl;
- and
- R.sub.2 is halo, nitro, lower alkyl, amino, or mono- or di-lower alkylamino.

A pharmaceutical preparation in dosage unit form suitable for treatment of inflammation, pain or fever comprising a carrier and, as active ingredient, an effective amount of a compound of the formula ##STR9## in which R.sub.1 is hydrogen or lower alkyl;
- R is cyano or lower alkyl sulfinyl;
- and
- R.sub.2 is halo, nitro, lower alkyl, amino, or mono- or di-lower alkylamino.
A pharmaceutical preparation in dosage unit form suitable for the treatment of inflammation, pain, or fever comprising a carrier and, as active ingredient, an effective amount of a compound of the formula:
- ##STR10## in which R.sub.1 is hydrogen or lower alkyl;
- R is halo, nitro, or halo lower alkyl;
- and
- R.sub.2 is halo, nitro, lower alkyl, amino, or mono- or di-lower alkylamino.
A pharmaceutical preparation in dosage unit form suitable for the treatment of inflammation, pain or fever comprising a carrier and, as active ingredient, an effective amount of a compound of the formula ##STR11## in which R.sub.1 is hydrogen or lower alkyl;
- R is cyano or lower alkyl sulfinyl;
- and
- R.sub.2 is lower alkoxy.
