Abstract
Apparatus for testing fuel injectors having their own in-built high pressure pump, the said apparatus comprising means for locating and clamping an injector on the apparatus, and a composite fuel system for supplying fuel to the injector and to different parts of the apparatus, the said fuel system including at least one valve having at least one weight acting on it to produce fuel at a pressure determined by that weight.
Claims15
Apparatus for testing fuel injectors having a fuel delivery nozzle at one end and their own in-built high-pressure pump, the apparatus comprising a hydraulic clamp for engaging and thus clamping the nozzle end of the injector into a fuel-collecting nose assembly, the nose assembly including a valve which is loaded by a spring which simulates pressure conditions prevailing in an engine cylinder with which the injector is designed to be used, and a composite fuel system for supplying fuel to the injector and to different parts of the apparatus, the said fuel system including at least one valve having at least one weight acting on it to produce fuel at a pressure determined by the weight.
Apparatus for testing fuel injectors having a fuel-delivery nozzle at one end and their own in-built high-pressure pump, the apparatus comprising a fuel-collecting nose assembly adapted to receive the nozzle end of a fuel injector, a first hydraulic clamp for engaging and clamping the nozzle end of the injector into the said nose assembly, a second hydraulic clamp arranged to bring the injector into a correct axial position on the apparatus, and a composite fuel system for supplying fuel to the injector and also to the two clamps to actuate the clamps, the said fuel system including a plurality of valves each having at least one weight acting on it to produce fuel at a pressure determined by that weight, the weights acting on the said valves being different from valve to valve so as to produce fuel deliveries from the valves at different pressures.
