This invention relates to the use of m-phenoxy-benzyl esters of spirocarboxylic acids as acaricidal agents.

A method for controlling ticks which comprises applying to adult ticks, a fecundity-suppressing amount of a spirocarboxylic acid compound having the formula ##STR20## wherein R.sub.1 is hydrogen, cyano or ethynyl, is a double or single bond and the steroisomers of the compounds.
