Abstract
1,3-Dihydrofuro[3,4-b]quinoxaline 4,9-dioxides which have an alkoxy and a substituted phenyl group in the 1-position and which are useful as antibacterial agents and agents for promoting growth in farm animals.

A compound of the formula ##STR12## wherein X is selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, hydroxy, nitro, fluoro, chloro, bromo, alkyl having from one to five carbon atoms and alkoxy having from one to five carbon atoms;
- and R.sup.1 is alkoxy having from one to five carbon atoms.
