Abstract
A method is provided for reducing wear between moving steel-on-steel surfaces which comprises introducing between the surfaces a lubricant composition containing an antiwear amount of a 5-alkylbenzotriazole wherein the alkyl group contains from 4 to about 16 carbon atoms.

A method for reducing wear between moving steel-on-steel surfaces which comprises introducing between said surfaces a lubricant composition comprising an oil of lubricating viscosity or a grease prepared therefrom containing an antiwear amount of a 5-alkylbenzotriazole wherein the alkyl group contains from 4 to 16 carbon atoms.
