Claims13
A process for preparing adenine directly which comprises reacting at least one member selected from the group consisting of diaminomaleonitrile and diaminofumaronitrile, a formic acid derivative selected from the group consisting of ammonium formate, formamide, orthoformic acid methyl and ethyl esters, and formic acid methyl and ethyl esters, and at least one member selected from the group of ammonia and ammonium salts in the presence or absence of a solvent, the amount of formic acid derivative being not less than 100 g per mole of nitrile.
