Abstract
7.beta.-Substituted mercaptoacetamido-7.alpha.-methoxycephalosporanic acid and derivatives thereof are prepared. These compounds are antibacterial agents with improved properties.

A compound of the formula ##STR2## wherein R is CF.sub.3 or CF.sub.3 CH.sub.2 ;
- n is 0, 1, or 2;
- X is SHet;
- and
- Het is tetrazolyl, triazolyl, thiadiazolyl, or oxadiazolyl, each unsubstituted or substituted with 1 or 2 alkyl groups of 1-4 carbon atoms,
- or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof.
