Abstract
Monocyclic oxazolinone-2 structures make good 2-equivalent photographic couplers, the oxazolinone-2 ring splitting during the coupling to form a dye. The couplers can be made by condensing an .alpha.-halocarbonyl compound with an inorganic cyanate in a substantially aprotic solvent that can contain a small amount of water.
Claims9
In a photographic material containing at least one silver halide emulsion layer and a photographic coupler, the improvement according to which the photographic coupler is a monocyclic-1,3-oxazolinone-2-coupling color coupler having the tautomeric ##STR16## structure.
In the process for the production of photographic images by exposure and development of a light-sensitive photographic material containing at least one light-sensitive silver halide emulsion layer with an aromatic colour developer compound containing primary amino groups in the presence of a colour coupler that has a structural coupling moiety to which the oxidation product of a silver halide color developer couples to form a coupling product, the improvement according to which the color coupler is a monocyclic-1,3-oxazolinone-2-coupling color coupler having the tautomeric ##STR19## structure.
