Abstract
1,1-DIPHENYL-2-HYDROXY-3-AMINOPROPANE DERIVATIVES ARE USEFUL FOR THEIR PSYCHOTROPIC ACTIVITY AND, IN PARTICULAR, ARE USEFUL AS ANTIDEPRESSANTS.

A pharmaceutical composition useful for treating depression in humans which comprises antidepressantly effective amount of a compound of the formula (IV):
- ##STR13## or a pharmaceutically acceptable acid addition salt thereof wherein R.sub.12 is hydrogen or methyl;
- and R.sub.13 is hydrogen, fluorine, chlorine, bromine or trifluoromethyl, in combination with a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier.
A method for treating depression in humans which comprises administering to a human in need thereof an anti-depressantly effective amount of a compound of the formula (IV):
- ##STR14## or a pharmaceutically acceptable acid addition salt thereof wherein R.sub.12 is hydrogen or methyl;
- and R.sub.13 is hydrogen, fluorine, chlorine, bromine or trifluoromethyl, in combination with a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier.
