Abstract
An appliance for making coffee, having a water reservoir and a filtering device including a filter holder, is provided with a lever arrangement pivotally connecting the filter holder and a movable element responsive to the water level in the reservoir so that the desired ratio between the amounts of water and coffee is obtained.

An appliance for making coffee and the like, which comprises a housing for a water reservoir and a filtering device including a filter holder, a movable element responsive to the level of the water in the water reservoir, and a lever pivotally supported by the housing and pivotally supporting the filter holder, one end of the lever being pivotally attached to the movable element, whereby a desired ratio between the amount of water in the water reservoir and the amount of substance in the filter holder to be filtered can be obtained.
