Abstract
A new class of 4-amino-3,5-dinitrobenzenesulfenamides and sulfinamides has been prepared. The new compounds possess a substituted amino group in the 4-position. Such compounds possess herbicidal activity and also activity against Plasmopara viticola, the causative agent of grape downy mildew.

A compound selected from the group consisting of compounds of the formula ##STR2## wherein R.sup.1 is hydrogen, C.sub.3 -C.sub.4 alkenyl or C.sub.1 -C.sub.3 alkyl;
- when R.sup.1 is hydrogen, R.sup.2 is C.sub.3 -C.sub.7 secondary alkyl;
- when R.sup.1 is not hydrogen, R.sup.2 is C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 alkyl;
- and
- n is 0 or 1.
