Abstract
The invention relates to aqueous solutions for bright and semi-bright nickel electroplating. The bath contains known ingredients such as nickel salts, boric acid ions together with three acetylenic compounds viz acetylenic alcohol, separated mono and/or di-alkoxylated derivative of acetylenic alcohol produced by reaction of acetylenic alcohol with ethylene oxide, propylene oxide or butylene oxide and N-di-substituted amino-propyne or its hydrochloride.
Claims4
An acidic aqueous solution for nickel electroplating comprising nickel sulphate, chloride and/or bromide, boric acid, at least 0.005 gms/liter of acetylene alcohol, at least 0.005 gms/liter of separated mono and/or di-alkoxylated derivative of an acetylenic alcohol produced by reaction of acetylenic alcohol with ethylene oxide, propylene oxide or butylene oxide, and at least 0.0005 gms/liter of N-di-substituted amino-propyne or its hydrochloride derivative, the total concentration of acetylenic materials being 0.01 to 0.5 grams per liter.
