Method for manufacturing shaped articles from multi-block copolymers

Method for manufacturing shaped articles from multi-block copolymers of acrylonitrile with acrylamide and/or acrylic acid and diacryl imide, said copolymers containing the structure of polyacrylonitrile determinable by X-ray analysis, wherein said copolymers having swelling capacities ranging from 10 to 95% of water (by weight) are formed by pressure in presence of an agent capable of swelling only the amorphous (hydrophilic) phase but incapable of dissolving the material at ambient temperature, the forming being carried out at temperatures that are higher than the glass transition point of any polymeric phase present in the system but lower than 250.degree. C., to a shaped article with substantially unchanged structure and chemical composition.
