Abstract
Fluorene-2-glyoxylic acid, 7-substituted derivatives thereof, and ester derivatives thereof are disclosed as useful for the treatment of inflammatory conditions.

A compound having the structure ##STR58## wherein X is selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, hydroxyl, lower alkyl, lower alkoxy, halogen, amino, trifluoromethyl and nitro;
- and R.sup.3 is selected from the group consisting of hydrogen and lower alkyl.
